Dennis Johnston Maynard Sr. was born 16 May 1897 in the town of Tilton in Whitfield County. In 1920 he was living in Chattanooga Tennessee and sometime beofre 1930 had moved to Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a insurance broker with state farm. He married Alyce Asa about 1920 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They had three children together. Sometime before 1931 he and Alyce were divorced and he married his secretary, Pearl "Peggy" Everett in Kansa City, Missouri. There were no children from this second marriage. He died on 28 July 1953 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
