Obituary for Lavesta Indiana McCowen Maynard - 19 June 1924 - Monroe Advertiser
FUNERAL FOR MRS. Z. M. MAYNARD HELD FRIDAY
The funeral services for Mrs. Z. M. Maynard were held Friday afternoon at two oclock at the Forsyth Baptist Church and were conducted by Rev. R. L. Bivens assisted by Dr. A. Chamblee. The services were attended by a host of sorrowing friends and the tributes of the ministers as well as the beautiful flora offerings were eloquent evidence of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
Mrs. Maynards last illness was sudden and she was taken to Atlanta in the hope that she might be restored, but passed away at a hospital in that city at 11 oclock on the night of June 11. She was a daughter of the late Mr. Thos. McCowen and a native of Monroe county, having passed her life in or near Forsyth. She was prominent in the social circle of the town and was a valued member of the Baptist church. Her going has deprived Forsyth of one of her staunch and popular citizens.
Immediate members of the family surviving Mrs. Maynard are her husband and three children, Mrs. T. O. Smith and Mr. Z. L. Maynard of Forsyth and Mrs. J. C. Butts of Gainesville.
