a. Note:   Born in the years before the Great Depression, Paul Hollis Boone was born at the family home in Cisco, Eastland County Texas in 1926 to a poor dirt farmer and his wife.
Paul was eleven when his mother "Nellie" died. He spent his teen years growing up wild, roaming from place to place around Ellis, Navarro, Henderson, Johnson and Eastland Counties. He's often told me about his times with his grandfather John M. Honea and his Uncle Floyd Honea who helped raise him after his mother's passing. Paul's father Pete was never the same after Nellie's death and didn't have much to do with his youngest son. Olney and "Tot" (Paul's older brothers) were already married and out on their own when their mother passed away.
Paul served in the United States Navy, after his time was up, he entered the United States Air Force where he served for a couple of months. He developed a internal stomach problem and was given a Medical Discharge from the Armed Services.
His first wife's name was Betty Sessums and he married her when he lived in California just after coming out of the service. They seperated after a couple of weeks of living together. Paul then returned to Texas where after his divorce was finialized in November of 1950, he married 17 year old Johnnie Jean Mitchell on December 9, 1950. He had dated Jean since she was 15 years old. Jean was the daughter of Bert Littleton Mitchell and his wife Bonelyn Loving Mitchell. Paul spent a lot of time with the Mitchell's, sometimes sleeping on the couch at their home on Edgecliffe Street in Oak Cliff. Bonnie treated him like a son and he was with her in the hospital when Bonnie died.
After he and Jean were married, they honeymooned in San Diego and Riverside California while visiting Olney and "Tot".
Places Paul, Jean and their kids lived were; Albuquerque New Mexico, and Utica Illinois. Places in Texas that he and his family lived were; Dallas, Malakoff, Athens, Pittsburg, Eustace, Mabank, and Irving. Most of the time they lived in Dallas Texas, were the kids spent their youths.
For years, Paul drove a Semi-Truck for various companies. "Groendyke, Charles Matthews, Jordan Distributors" and others.
Each year Paul took his family on vacations. Places visited were; Belle Vista Arkansas, Carlsbad New Mexico, Riverside and El Cajon California, Tucson Arizona, Galveston and Corpus Christi Texas and Colorado.
After 42 years of marriage, Jean died August 6th of 1993, just 18 days shy of her 60th birthday. Paul was out of town when her death occured. His brother "Tot" has died July 30, 1993 just one week before Jean did and Paul was out in California attending his brother's funeral.
Just three years after his wife's and brother's death, Paul was diagnoised with Cancer of the Lungs and Enphysema, and underwent several months of radiation treatments. His cancer is now in remission for two and half years.
He met Velma Ivey Williams Runion and married her on March 15, 1996. Military Service:
Served in World War II in The United States Navy between the years 1944-1946 on the USS LST 754.
