a. Note:   Nathaniel was apprenticed to a shoemaker and learned the trade. On July 1, 1824 Nathaniel and family sailed from Londonderry for St.John, New Brunswick, which they reached on August 13, 1824 after asomewhat stormy 43 day passage. Four days later they went by schoonerup the river to Gagetown. There they remained about a month when theymoved a few miles down the river to a place known as Fox's. In thefollowing year, 1825, he bought from S. Haviland, for 62 pounds, 10shillings, 5d, 300 hundred acres of wilderness land situated some 8 or10 miles back from the river in a place to which had been given, byone of the early settlers, the name of New Jerusalem. The onlysettlers in the place at the time were Elijah Crabb, Timothy Morrilland Henry Sharp.
