Note: Sarah Tinnin Mabery was the second wife of Abraham Crites. This line of Mabery's spelled their name with one r. I think it is possible that the Tinnin's lived near the Mabery's as after Joshua's death on May 31, 1869 a settlement balance was paid to the estate of Hugh A. Tinnin. In the Crites Book by Lutz she is listed as Susan Elizabeth Tinnen b. 10-6-1827 shows birthplace Ark. died 9-29-1898. On the 1850 Stoddard Co Census William is married to Susannah age 21 and a one year old son, Benjamin. On the1860 Erath Co., Tx Census Sarah is listed as the wife of Abraham Crites. Her age shown as 33. There are two children, Benjamin Maberry 10 and Sarah Maberry 9. On 1870 Erath Census Sarah is shown as 45. The 1880 Sommervell Co Census lists her as 52. Abraham was not with her on the this census, but four of their children were in the household, Sarah, James Franklin, Mary Ann and Martha. Sarah Tinnin Mabery was married to William J. Mabery, Stoddard Co.,Mo. He was the father of the two Mabery children listed above. He died between 1850 and 1860 in Missouri. She was a sister of William Benjamin Tinnin who came by wagon with Abraham Crites from the Cape Girardeau, Mo. area to the Paluxy River Valley. It is not known whether Abraham and Sarah were married before leaving Missouri or after arrival in Texas. Sarah's (Betsy) was a daughter of Huey and Charity Albright Tinnin. Sarah died September 29, 1898 and is buried by Abraham Crites in Mitchell Bend Cemetery, Erath County Tx. This information was supplied by Johneda Tinnin Lee, descendant of Huey Tinnin.
