Reno Gazette-Journal from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, 2011:
James Richard (Dick) Idso, 82, of Palm Springs, California, died August 21, 2011, in his home.
Dick was born August 13, 1929, in Alden, Iowa to James A. and Eva Kreamer Idso. He grew up in Alden and graduated from Alden High School. He attended Drake University in Des Moines. Although his time at Drake was interrupted by the Korean War and his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force, Dick was able to complete his degree in Business Administration. He was a lifelong member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
While in the military, Dick was stationed at Stead Air Force Base in Reno. After his enlistment, Dick chose to remain in the Reno area and started a 35 year career with 1st National Bank of Nevada/1st Interstate Bank. He retired as a vice president in 1995.
Dick married Jane Arzaian on September 5, 1970. Together they raised their daughter, Lisa Ellen Idso. They were active in the Reno community and especially with the Washoe County Republican Central Committee. At a much too early age, Jane was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Thereafter Dick devoted the majority of his time to her care and well-being until her death in 1993.
Dick loved his family, home, garden, and cooking. Family and friends have fond memories of gathering in Dick's kitchen. He spent happy hours canning and freezing produce from his garden and sharing the bounty with those around him.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife Jane, their daughter Lisa, his parents, and a sister, Virginia Liittschwager of Iowa City, IA. He is survived by his grandsons Cody, Tucker, and Mason, all of Reno, his brother Jon (Shan) Idso of Twin Falls, ID, brother-in-law John Liittschwager of Iowa City, IA, and a long time friend, Frank Kinnell, of Reno.
Following cremation, interment will be at the Alden Cemetery in Alden, Iowa. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program. The creator of each GEDCOM is solely responsible for its content.
