'I got to know Grandpa Martin very well. He stayed at our place. All he told me about his life I should have written down. I thought I would remember, but........
For some reason, Dad disliked Grandpa. I don't know why but my Dad would be very touchy most of the time!!
Grandpa Timpy had one of the first cars I had ever seen. I had many rides in it. Uncle Lawrence always drove. After the time Grandpa tried to drive and took his foot off the brake too fast and the car jumped and stalled, he left the driving the Uncle Lawrence. Of course, Uncle did not mind that at all.
Neither of our grandparents taught their children any German. They did not speak any German between themselves either.'
