Note: the early 1700's. Gunnar's son Nils took the family name Grimbeck (up until this timepeople living in Sweden used their father's first name as their surname,e.g. my full name would be Wade Scott Bryansson (as I am the son ofBryan), and my sister's name would be Tracy Bryansdotter (as she isthe daughter of Bryan). This method of identification is still usedin Iceland today). The Swedish government decided that in order tokeep accurate record of individuals, each family would have to usea common name for purposes of identification, hence...Grimbeck (aschosen by Nils Gunnarsson). Nils' brothers decided to take the familyname Grimbeck too. Gunnar Thorsson's wife's name is unknown.
