a. Note:   Killed in Civil War near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Never found his body. A photograph of him at age 23 is held by Samuel G. Kibler. Original picture on back says "Died April 3rd 1865 near Centerville". Marzee Irene Wilson, RIN 83, has the original. Once while Confederate troops were encamped near Raleigh, Tennessee, George slipped thru the lines for a brief visit to his parents home. Suddenly there was the sound of marching feet. Then a knock on the door. It was a Yankee search party. George looked around frantically for a place to hide. As the knocks grew louder, he stepped inside an old grandfather's clock which stood in his grandmother's bedroom. The Yankees searched the house, and finding nothing, they left. George was safe only to be killed a few months later on the battlefield two days after the end of the war. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
