Note: L. D. McAuley was the second son of Gustaves Henry McAuley and Martha Maria Pollard born in Erin, Houston Co., Tennessee on Jan. 19, 1874. Uncle Louis was educated in county schools and also attended school at Dickson Normal Cumberland and University. He graduated in medicine at University of Nashville which since has affiliated with University of Tennessee. On May 5, 1901 he began the practice of medicine in Macon, Tennessee but on Jan. 15, 1902 removed to Oakland, Tennessee. Oct. 30, 1907 he was united in marriage to Erma Hill Wilson at the home of her parents, Rev. H. Kirker, Pastor of Oakland Church officiating. Dr. McAuley united with the Oakland Presbyterian Church in 1917 and a few years later became an elder in that organization.
