a. Note:   Col. Ninian Beall was a Scottish Immegrant. He was born in Scotland. He fought against Cromwell in the Battle of Dunbar in 1650, and was made a prisoner. He was sentenced to five years servitude and ended up in Calvert Co., MD in 1652 and served his five years with Richard Hall, a planter. Ninean Bealls military ability seems to have been made good use of in Province of Maryland. He was named a Lt. in 1668, and later made a colonel. He was a great indian fighter, a man of broad experience and he had a good education. He ended up owning over 4,000 acres of land. He was a Presbyterian, had fierey red hair and was 6' 7" tall. He must have been a very impressive individual. He married about 1670 to Ruth Moore. Ninian died at age 92 in 1717 and was buried on his "Rock of Dumbarton" plantation at a point now Gay Street, Georgetown, District of Columbia. The Beall family that owns the Beall Detartment Stores in the south are descended from Alexander Beall, a cousin of Ninian. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
