Note: Lyn told Sam she was pregnant upon his arrival back home after a cruise to WestPac in 1969. Sam was thrilled! They both attended LaMaze classes for new parents and began to aquire baby things. They were very happy in anticipation of the birth of their first child. Sam was present for the delivery which was to have been at home, but was unable to witness the birth due to complications requiring an emergency high-speed trip to the hospital in the doctor's car. Everything appeared to have gone all right except for Lyn's inability to dilate completely and the necessity of a high forcepts delivery. David Allen Kibler died of head injuries suffered during a high forceps delivery by Dr. Schenepper. The difficulty was not noticable for everal hours after delivery. His mother, Marilyn Kibler, had nursed him and everything had seemed all right at first. He died 22 hours after being born. His Great-Grandfather, Frank Laughlin Wilson (Bigdaddy), gave space in his cemetery plot in Collierville, TN. for David's burial. The loss of a first born son is a tragedy that is extremely hard to take. The shock is almost unbearable.
