a. Note:   1820 Knox Co. OH census, Bloomfield Twp, shows 1 male 16-26, 1 female 26-45, 1 male under 10 , and 3 females under 10. The 3 females would be Lavina's children from her first marriage. 1830 Knox Co. OH census (p 93/282 in Bloomfield Twp) shows John Askins with 1 male under 5 , 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40; 1 female under 5, 3 females 5-10, 1 female 10-15 and 1 female 20 -30 [sic]. Also in this area were Reuben, William, Robert and Jesse Askins, with Reuben bein g by far the oldest, in the 50-60 age range. 1840 Shelby Co. IL census (p 197) lists Jonathan Askins with 1 male 5-10, 1 male 15-20, 1 mal e 40-50; 1 female 5-10, 1 10-15, 1 15-20 and 1 40-50. Since all 3 of Lavina's daughters fro m her first marriage had married before 1840, all these children must be hers and Jonathan's , unless they have some one else in their home. Knox Co. OH marriage records include a Jonathan Askins to Lavina Dillinoe [sic] on 21 Oct 181 9. She was the widow of Stephen Delano with 3 young daughters. Shelby Co. IL marriage records include a Jonathan Askins to Addocia Hill 24 Jun 1844 by Eli H ooper. Is this the same Jonathan? 1850 Effingham Co. IL census (p 323a house #553) lists Johnathan Aspen [sic] 58 VA farmer; Da cher [sic] 33 NC; George 16 OH; Sarah E. 3 IL and Wm. T. age 1 month. Also in the home was J ohn Aspen 35 OH farmer; Nancy 34 OH; Wm. 5 IL; Sarah 3 IL; and Johnathan 6/12 Illinois. Nex t door was James Starm 31 OH with wife Susan and sons Wm. and Thomas, that could be a brothe r to Nancy Starner, the wife of John Askins. Then William T. Barr and Susan and their childr en, with Margaret Ditton [sic] 54 PA in the next house. 1860 Effingham Co. IL census (p 141 #1010 Ervington PO) lists Dica Askins 40 NC; Elizabeth 1 3 IL; and Thos. 10 IL. Nearby was William S. Barr and Susan. Also Geo. C. Eckles 58 and wif e Nancy with Wm.
